Deep in the barrios of Colombia, gangsters, beauty queens and misfits are clawing their way out of poverty and crime with an electrifying new dance form. SALSA 45 is an 8-minute film in which anthropologist, Corinna Csáky, follows Swing Latino, a controversial new dance group to the Colombia National Salsa Championships.  Set up by an ex-gangster, Swing Latino ave reinvented salsa into a new art form where music is played at 45rpm instead of 33.  With it, they are winning prizes, making money, and challenging social norms.  This is where Strictly Come Dancing meets City of God.
