When:           Thursday 23 June 2011, 10:00 - 17:00
Where:          BLCC Foyle Learning Centre, British Library
Price:            £15 / £12 concessions (pre-booking required)
What:            A workshop to focus on issues of archiving anthropological film and the ethical dilemmas and
possibilities of access presented by the digital age.
In the digital age as archives enable access to material by means beyond the imagination of many
of their original collectors, many challenging issues confront archivists and filmmakers alike. As
the internet brings the documented and the investigators face to face, archives have become the
sites for much of this frontline debate. This joint workshop, by the RAI film archive and the British
Library [Moving Image and World and Traditional Music curators], will be constructed around three
sessions with invited panellists to instigate informed discussion and answer questions.

"Shared Experience – How community film crowd funding works”
When:           Saturday 25 June 2011, 13:00 - 14:00
Where:          Roberts 106, UCL Roberts Building, Torrington Place, London, WC1E 7JE
What:            Three filmmakers Isis Thompson, Srdjan Keca, and Ludovica Fales have followed a group of
University College students throughout the tuition fees protests, documenting one of the strongest
student movements in 40 years. They will show excerpts of their hundreds of hours of footage right
from the heart of the protests and talk about their experience in financing the production of their
intended film “THE REAL SOCIAL NETWORK Spirit of '68 + 21st Century technology = a new
generation of protest” through crowd funding initiatives.
